Medical Publisher Hayward Finds Good Fit
Datateam Publishing has acquired the company behind Hayward Medical Communications, the Newmarket and London-based medical and pharmaceutical publisher.
The Hayward Group is expected to continue to operate from its existing facilities where it publishes a portfolio of over 15 independent publications such as the British Journal of Renal Medicine and the European Journal of Palliative Care.
The deal was led by BCMS Corporate after Hayward’s founders approached the firm in 2008 to help them identify a suitable buyer for the 26-strong business, which also specialises in delivering symposia, roadshows and training on behalf of clients.
Corporate finance boutique, BCMS Corporate, which actively identifies the most suitable potential acquirers for a clients’ business, generated a number of approaches from interested parties before agreeing terms with Kent-based Datateam for an undisclosed sum.
Datateam director, Douglas Wright, said: “We’re extremely pleased to have completed the purchase of Hayward and look forward to working closely with the staff to develop the business,” adding: “there is no intention to move any functions to Kent.”
BCMS deal leader, Luc Juffkins, said: “this is a prime example of how our aim of targeting strategically motivated potential acquirers can pay off for both companies. The Hayward Group is a major force in its particular sector and I believe it will be a welcome addition to Datateam – one of the country’s biggest independent B2B publishers.”
