BCMS sells Southern England's leading independent tyre suppliers
BCMS Corporate has completed the multi-million pound sale of Tyreland to Micheldever Tyre Services Limited. Tyreland is one of the fastest growing tyre, exhaust and battery suppliers to both retail and trade customers in the South of England.
Founded in 1998 by Martyn James and a business partner, the 90-strong company has seven depots across Hampshire and Dorset, together with two wholesale warehouses. It sources tyres from throughout the UK and Europe, and stocks all the major brands as well as a range of budget branded tyres, some of which are supplied exclusively through Tyreland in the region.
The new owners of Tyreland are Winchester-based Micheldever Tyre Services Limited, the UK’s largest wholesale distributor of tyres and automotive products with a growing retail network of over 60 centres.
Under the terms of the agreement, all of the staff have been retained by Micheldever Tyre Services Limited, whilst Martyn James has been retained on a consultancy basis to assist the integration of Tyreland with the new parent company.
Says Mike O’Connor, Deal Leader of BCMS Corporate: “We’re delighted to have completed the sale of Tyreland. There was considerable interest in the business, given its high-profile within the sector in the region, and I am extremely confident that Micheldever Tyre Services Limited will significantly enhance their presence in the South of England with the acquisition of Tyreland.”
Adds Martyn James, Managing Director and Founder of Tyreland: “When I decided to retire from Tyreland I was determined to find the right partner to take the business forward and I believe I have done just that by joining with Micheldever Tyre Services Limited.”
