BCMS Corporate Completes Sale of Body Armour Company
Newbury-based BCMS Corporate has completed the high-profile sale of Jack Ellis, the company which makes the blue body armour vests used by the likes of Ross Kemp on his TV series ‘Ross Kemp in Afghanistan’.
Jack Ellis specialises in the design, manufacture and distribution of body armour vests used by Government agencies, special forces, the police and prison services as well as a number of media organisations around the world.
Founded in 1994, the directors of the company, led by Michael Riley, had been looking for a suitable buyer for the business which also provides equestrian body protection, ahead of their pending retirement.
Corporate finance boutique BCMS Corporate was brought in late last year to oversee the sale of Jack Ellis to new owners, J&D Wilkie, a leading textiles weaving business in Scotland. Under the terms of the agreement, production of the vests will transfer to J&D Wilkie’s factory in Kirriemuir, north of Dundee.
James Monjack, the deal leader at BCMS Corporate said: “We are extremely pleased to have successfully completed the sale of Jack Ellis on behalf of the directors. They were keen to transfer ownership of the business to the right company and we are confident that in new owners, J&D Wilkie, they have found the ideal fit.”
Michael Riley, the founder of Jack Ellis, said: “We are extremely grateful to James and the team at BCMS.”
