BCMS Corporate calibrates a perfect sale for the PJO Group

BCMS Corporate's Haslingden based deal team has completed the sale of repair, calibration and certification specialist the PJO Group to Mechan Controls Plc.

Founded by Chairman Patrick O’Grady, the PJO Group works predominantly with electricity, gas and water utility providers and subcontractors in repairing and calibrating their electronic test and measurement equipment.

Headquartered in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, the 19-strong company also operates a dedicated plant and hydraulics supply, repair and testing division to the mining, construction and utilities sectors.

Recently, Patrick O’Grady approached BCMS Corporate to identify a buyer for the PJO Group after deciding to retire at the age of 67 from the business.

The new owners of the PJO Group are Mechan Controls Plc, one of the market leaders in the design and manufacture of non-contact safety switches for machine guards.

Under the terms of the sale, all of the staff have been retained by Mechan Controls Plc including James O’Grady, Managing Director of the PJO Group.

Says Ilan Effassy, Deal Leader, BCMS Corporate: “We’re extremely pleased to have concluded the sale of the PJO Group. It is a clear market leader within its sector and I believe offers huge potential for expansion under the leadership of Mechan Controls Plc both here in the UKand overseas.”

Adds Patrick O’Grady: “I am delighted with the outcome of the sale of the PJO Group and firmly believe that in Mechan Control Plc the right partner has been found to continue to grow the business over the coming weeks, months and years.”

Wilf Boardman, group managing director for Mechan Controls commented: “PJO adds to our range of products and services and our experience in overseas markets, particularly the USA, gives us the opportunity to really add value to the whole group.”
