All systems go for DSP Design following company sale by BCMS
International M&A specialist BCMS has sold DSP Design Limited, one of the UK’s market leading companies in embedded computer technology to global electronics manufacturing services provider, Season Group. Based at the Tapton Park Innovation Centre in Chesterfield, DSP Design specialises in the design, manufacturer and supply of standard as well as custom-made embedded computer systems to original equipment manufacturers.
Founded in the mid-1980s by Charles Palmer, the company was headed up by Kath Deas, Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer.
Recently Kath Deas and the other shareholders of DSP Design decided they wanted to pursue other business interests and approached BCMS to help identify a strategic buyer with the expertise to continue the company’s development.
The new owner of DSP Design is Season Group, a global, vertically integrated, electronic manufacturing services provider with facilities in the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Malaysia, Hong Kong and China . The Season Group employs over 1,800 employees worldwide. Under the terms of the sale, all of the staff have been retained by the new owners.
Says Mac Edwards, Deal Leader for BCMS : “We’re extremely pleased to have concluded the sale of DSP Design. It is one of the market leaders within its sector, and was demonstrated by the level of interest shown in the business, and I believe offers huge potential for expansion under the guidance of Season Group.”
Adds Kath Deas: “I am delighted to see the company move forward in the next phase of its development. It is a fantastic business that I firmly believe will continue to lead the way in computer embedded technology for many years to come.”
